CHICAGO – The national gas price average is crawling upwards, in part due to the massive snow and ice storm that gripped much of the nations mid-section earlier this week. According to the American Automobile Association, the national gas price average is at $2.53 per gallon. On a statewide level, gas has increased nearly a quarter more than a year ago, averaging $2.74 per gallon. LaSalle County is at a $2.71 average, while Putnam and Bureau County are both above $2.74 per gallon. Livingston County is well below the state average at $2.61.
