OTTAWA – A Utica man held a public gathering in front of Ottawa’s courthouse to formally announce his candidacy to run as Republican for state representative for Illinois’ 76th District Friday afternoon. 39-year-old Travis Breedan says he’s running for the position because the Illinois Valley needs a representative that can bring back jobs, has strong Midwest values that votes in a conservative manner. He pledges to work towards lowering property taxes, work on public pension reform and stronger gun rights, like the legalization of open carry. Breedan is a member of Utica Baptist Church and Teamsters Local 710, serving as a truck driver for 20 years.
