Joann (Perry) Taylor, 80 of Streator passed away Sunday evening (October 20, 2024) surrounded by family.

Memorial services will be held Saturday at 12 noon with a visitation held from 10 a.m. until the time of services at the Winterrowd Funeral Home. Burial will be in Oakwood Memorial Park Cemetery, Ottawa at a later date.

Joann was born on July 27, 1944, in McLeansboro, IL to Vernor and Margaret (Heil) Perry. She married Virgil Taylor Jr. on June 29, 1963, in Streator by the late KB Winkles.

She is survived by her husband Virgil Jr., her children, Donna Davis of Streator, Robert (Evelyn) Taylor of Apache Junction, AZ and Kimberly (Timothy) Walker of Crystal Lake, 9 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, sister Melva Cunningham of Streator, brother Bob (Linda) Perry of Massachusetts, half-sister Marie (Rod) Verdine of Ottawa, half-brother John (Ruth) Perry of Wisconsin, and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents and half-brother David Perry.

Joann attended Henneville grade school and Streator High School. She worked at Murphys retail store, St. Mary’s Hospital and retired from Danchris Nursery.

She enjoyed painting crafts, sewing, collecting Marie Osmand dolls, preserving family memories through scrapbooking and sharing joy with her handmade cards. Her family and friends were very dear to her and she especially loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Joann loved watching her grandsons play soccer and perform in musicals/plays and loved all Chicago sports teams. Joann also loved working with the children in Puggles at Central Church of Christ, where she was a member for many years.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or to Central Church of Christ.
