Over a mile of new bike paths and pedestrian bridge coming to Peru

PERU – The City of Peru was awarded a grant from the Illinois Department of Transportation Enhancement Program that will make access to parts of town easier for those on foot or bike. This week it was announced that the city was awarded $3 million dollars for the project, which will include over a mile of new concrete paths and an 837-foot-long pedestrian bridge over Illinois 251. The 10-foot-wide path will help connect neighborhoods and parks in the city, and the bridge, located north of Hy-Vee, will provide a safer way for those to cross the busy highway.
