SPRINGFIELD – The battle to have bail reform in the state of Illinois heads to the courts today as oral arguments are set to begin in the lawsuit against the portion of the Safe-T Act that was signed into law back in August of 2021. The Illinois Supreme Court will hear both sides make their case. A lower court Judge in Kankakee ruled against the elimination of cash bail across the state of Illinois after it was supposed to be enacted at the start of this year. Governor Pritzker said he believes the highest court in the state will agree with him.
